3.1 PoE & WAN

The EZR13 WiFi extender takes DC power from the PoE adapter. It also uses the PoE adapter to connect to the master internet router via a LAN cable.

3.1.1 - Power Over Ethernet

PoE, Power over Ethernet, makes the router easy to install. Both power and data will travel down the same Ethernet cable. The EZR13 extender accord with the IEEE802.3 af/at standards with TIA/EIA568B wiring on the LAN cable. A 48-Volt standard PoE adapter and 30-feet LAN cable included in the package.

3.1.2 - Cable Gland

An IP68 rated waterproof LAN cable gland is included in the package. Follow the below steps to install the LAN cable on the router through the cable gland to provide waterproof protection on the router and PoE socket.

  1. Take apart the cable gland.

  2. Take the LAN cable through the cap, clamp with the rubber stopper, through the barrel screw, then plug the RJ45 connector into the RJ45 port of the PoE socket.

  3. Screw the barrel screw on the base PoE socket.

  4. Insert rubber stopper into barrel screw, and crew down the cap tightly.

When disconnecting the LAN cable from the router, firstly take off the cap, and then unscrew the barrel screw.

3.1.3 - PoE Adapter

A 48-Volt PoE adapter is included in the package. There are two RJ45 ports on the PoE adapter. Connect the PoE port to the extender via LAN cable. Then connect the PoE adapter to the electrical outlet. It can take 110~240 Volt AC power and output 48-Volt 0.5Amps DC power to the extender.

If you received more than one power plugs, press the Push button, then slid the power plug to upside and take off the plug. You can then exchange it with another power plug for the PoE adapter.

3.1.4 - LAN Cable

A 30-feet outdoor grade LAN cable is included in the package. You can use max 320-feet LAN cable. Please use Cat5 or higher-grade LAN cable between the extender and PoE adapter. If you use the extender in the outdoor environment, an outdoor-grade LAN cable is recommended.

There will be a distinct attenuation on the Ethernet signal when LAN cable is more extended than 160-feet. Please use a PoE extender when you need to send an Ethernet signal to more than 160-feet away. The PoE extender can give you an extra 320-feet distance.

AP Mode (Default)

To input the Internet signal to extender, connect the LAN port on the PoE adapter to the LAN port on the Internet router.

WAN port is bind to the eth1 physical RJ45 port which is also used by PoE Another RJ45 LAN port is bind to eth0 which is not connected to the PoE adapter

Router Mode

To change the extender to router mode, the LAN port need to bind to eth1 to connect to the PoE adapter.

Log in to the extender admin. Go to Network > Interface. Click Edit on the row of LAN. Click the tab of Physical Settings, bind eth1 on the Interface field, and click the button Save & Apply.

Please remember to edit the WAN interface and bind the physical interface to eth0.

Then we can connect LAN port on the PoE adapter to a computer or secondary router via LAN cable. You will get the Ethernet signal from the extender. Make sure to connect to the WAN port on the secondary router. The extender has turned on DHCP by default. Make sure your router or computer also turned on DHCP to obtain the IP address.
